Behind the walls of the former freight depot, and today’s cultural center “Bollwerk”, with the SHINY TOYS *SPACE you can expect our real-time audio-visual laboratory. Away from the daylight, we invite you to a weekend of joint experiments. We offer exciting 4 days and a lot of optical toys and equipment. The sessions ranging from VJing, mapping, Arduino, hacks to auditive explorations in a relaxed atmosphere. Let us trace new modes of action and implications of audiovisual experiments in the lab on time and provide some surprises.

In addition to scheduled lectures and workshops, reports and issues will be formulated and developed spontaneously in the course of the event. In addition to the aural and visual appropriation of spaces, debates and exchange of information are in the focus.Basic issues of image perception and visual communication should be considered as well as interfaces to current application fields of media arts and technology. By forming the interconnection of multiple aesthetic levels (light, sound, space) and the use of digital and analog media technology opens up new possibilities of perception and experience of space.

Status Quo:

workshops and experiments:
There will be several Workshops, and you are invited to share your knowledge! In case you want to give a workshop or want to explain your project, tell us what it is about!
During SHINY TOYS *SPACE from thursday to saturday there will be many projectors, screens, objects, OHPs, diascopes, soldering stations, tools, desks and manymany cables. Don't hesitate to bring your own toys!

performances:
You will be taken on an audiovisual journey by our friends from 'sculpture' from Britain! Dan Hayhurst and Reuben Sutherland will introduce you into their world of zoetropic disks and tape loops.
If you want to perform: More power to you! We offer you half an hour of performance time at night. And we will share your ideas in the program!

Mapping:
For saturday evening we are planning a huge projection mapping at the old trainstation "Bahnhof Moers". Let's overflow it with a real picture overkill!

Be there! No matter how you want to participate, as artist or visitor, we are really looking forward to meet you at SHINY TOYS *SPACE on 16.th to 21.st october 2012. We also have a delicious vegetarian catering and chilled drinks for you!
