Sequenced Red
[Texto disponible solo en inglés] A crisis can be paralysing, fearful and stressful, but surely, it can be creative too. Sequenced Red is telling the story of perseverance and resistance in seeking equality and freedom for all and, in doing so, processing the violence one must endure, the hopes one must nurture, and the sacrifices one must make. Sequenced Red is the duo's, Tormoz and Pouya, response to a crisis in their home country Iran.

Sequenced Red is a system of interconnected machinery that enables the London-based electronic musicians and improviser Pouya Ehsaei, and Iran-based visual artist Tormoz, to collaborate from afar. Tormoz cannot travel freely with the project and, for two years, Pouya and Tormoz have been working on and refining a system that can play and generate the visuals in Tormoz's physical absence.

To perform, Pouya uses an all-hardware setup consisting of a modular synthesiser, drum machine, sequencer, sampler and outboard effects. Tormoz has made a complex real-time visual video processor that can be sequenced by Pouya's hardware. This has made a solid integration of the audio and the visual element of Sequenced Red where Pouya can improvise with the visuals the same way he has been improvising with his music for many years. This means that their sets can be of any length and spontaneously react to the space and the situation in which they are played.
