In the short period of time since she launched her career as a VJ, Yagama had a remarkable success and quickly established herself as one of the top visual artists in the country. She quickly worked her way in the local electronic music scene and for the mere year of work as a VJ she managed to share a stage with the cream of native and foreign music talent, such as Banco De Gaia, Trans Global Underground, Wignomy Brothers, Marco Carola, Juno Reactor to name but a few. She was also the first VJ to perform at prestigious “Bulgaria” concert hall, a classical music venue. She is currently working with a well known Bullgarian experimental rock band, New Generation, jazz musicians Angel Zaberski and Jivko Petrov, techno and trance producers from Bulgaria and abroad. As a founder and artist of the Uga Buga Art Collective Yagama, carried out a number of art projects such as the development the entire visual concept including VJing, decoration, creation of art installations and fire performance choreography at Earthdance 2007, Existence 2007 and Artmospheric 2008 Festivals. She has exhibited her paintings all over the world from Sofia to New York and the Carribbean and most recently was commissioned to design and build a labyrinth herb garden in a central park in Sofia which is a unique project in her country. She is currently working on an interactive installation and multimedia performance piece called “Perceptions-Space,” a project funded by the Culture Fund in Bulgaria. Her live work as a VJ is multilayered, diverse and driven by two core principles: to present an entirely new set of visuals for each individual performance, to create vision that interacts, reflect and exists in total integration with both music and audience. She sees her art as a narrative and perceives story telling as an essential aspect of her work. This is why her performances are always an ever-changing visual journey, abstract and diverse but yet connected to form coherent worlds. Yagama is no copy paste artist mixing her own original material by using a range of techniques from cutouts from all kinds of sources to create deep, provoking, and beautiful visuals that also contain a humor element. Much of the material created by her is based on her analog works such as as paintings, sculpture, photos, video etc. Her main inspirations are the journey toward the self, sacred geometry, ancient culture symbolism, the visual harmony of the natural world and aims to positively affect the audience and interact with it. In her quest to increase the level of interaction between crowd and performer she started experimenting with Nintendo Wii remotes to control visuals, bringing the work of the VJ to a next level and to the front of the stage.Yagama is open for collaborations with all kinds of music and visual artists, event organizers and all kinds of events that can involve attractive live multimedia presentations.
