[Text available only in English] My name is Mattia Minerva, a thirty-year-old whose roots trace back to the sun-kissed lands of Salento.
For nearly a decade, I've been immersed in the vibrant city of Rome, where I embarked on an artistic adventure that combines action, listening, and stage writing. My experience, however, is a rich tapestry of diverse facets. My artistic journey is a fusion of computer engineering and generative visual arts, where chaos theory dances through my creative process, inspiring a world of endless possibilities.
As my computer science thesis project, I brought to life ARTificial, a dynamic visual arts system that produces three-dimensional patterns in real-time, weaving together the worlds of paintings and music. The work was also published by "Intelligenza Artificiale Italia" and is constantly evolving. It leverages the power of innovative technologies like TouchDesigner, Python, Javascript, Shader, and WebGL, integrating them to create a truly immersive experience. This non-linear approach permeates my work, with a combination of creativity and innovation. My aim isn't to achieve a flawless blend, but to embrace the dynamic tension between order and chaos, between form and its background.
Over the past two years, I've embarked on a quest to uncover places and mentors that would unlock the depths of my living material—the fragile, instinctive, and sometimes unspeakable essence that exists before form.
My journey with Fabiana Iacozzilli and Linda Dalisi opened a world where I explored the body, writing, and stage dramaturgy. It began with the body as a living memory, a testament to a lucid and visceral urgency that awakened within me.
I was also blessed to dive into Thomas Richards' workshop at this year's Venice Biennale (2025), an experience that forged a profound connection with the very essence of my being. I realized that creativity isn't a gesture to be invented, but a source waiting to be unleashed.
In recent years, I started a journey of intense training in both acting and visual arts, diving deep into my own unique lens and perspective. I had the incredible opportunity to dive deep into my studies with a stellar lineup of teachers at "The Node Institute" in Berlin, including the esteemed Stefan Kraus, the visionary Torin Blankensmith, the insightful Bileam Tschepe, and the brilliant Elburz Sorkhabi. Thanks to their guidance and my studies in theater and computer science, I've developed the project at hand after a deep dive into research. It's currently in an experimental phase and will make its debut as a work-in-progress at the Maker Faire in Rome in October 2025.
Over the past few years, I've had the thrill of showcasing my work at an array of visual arts events, including the Maker Faire (2022, 2025), the Live Cinema Festival (2022), and the MarteLive (2023). More recently, I had the pleasure of presenting my work at the Tevere Art Gallery (2024), the Testaccio Estate (2024), and the Ficalindie (2024, 2025). I also teamed up with visionary professionals like Luigi Narici from "Il Venerdì di Repubblica" and the teams at FieldA1 and Lisergica. With the latter, I had the thrilling chance to engage with a video mapping project on the majestic Porta Furba, one of Rome's ancient city gates, titled AQUÆ (2025).
My future projects aim at developing interactive visuals, spanning from the body mapping for dance and theater to the dynamic, real-time creation of shapes and colors for live music events, all brought to life through the magic of sensors and controllers.
In recent months, I've embarked on an exciting new journey with "CucinaSonora," where we're co-creating several innovative projects, including the captivating "The Chaos of Sound."
