[Texto disponible solo en inglés] Dario Buratti is an Italian generative artist based in Milan. Trained at the Brera Academy of Fine Arts, his artistic practice combines extensive professional experience in digital media with research into generative systems, data and the processes through which information, image, sound and language can transform one another.

His work often begins with systems capable of listening to and interpreting data from the world, treating it not simply as information to be represented but as active material within the creative process. The artwork therefore becomes the temporary outcome of a continuously evolving structure in which rules, datasets, computational processes and artistic intervention contribute to the emergence of form.

Buratti also develops this research theoretically through the concept of the Work-as-System, according to which the identity of an artwork does not necessarily coincide with a single visible outcome, but with the generative grammar capable of producing it. He is the author of The Creator’s Code and L’Opera-Sistema / Work-as-System and develops the ongoing ResNet series, investigating relationships and resonances emerging within complex systems.

For Symbiogenesis / Residual Time, Buratti is responsible for systemic direction and generative grammar. His research into Residual Time investigates how what a system has already produced can continue to operate over time, persisting, resonating and becoming reactivated within subsequent configurations of the work.
