Rebel Clef DJ Set
[Texto disponible solo en inglés] Rebel Clef is a Bass/Garage, Hip-Hop and Electronica producer/DJ/musician hailing from the creative capital of Cape Town, South Africa.

With music being the cornerstone of his life he has wondered through many genres over the years picking up the pieces that stood out. This journey elevated on an alternative 'note' due to roles as lead vocalist/mc and guitarist for locally acclaimed bands such as Liquid, Nicotine Patch and later Shepherd's Pie in Johannesburg during the late 90's. This was his first taste of the music industry, and was well recieved representing Pretoria for National Music Week along side "Not My Dog" in 1997 and getting airplay on national radio stations such as 5fm.

After relocating to Cape Town in 2001, Rebel Clef put focus into his love for conscious Hip-Hop and began producing. He quickly settled into the thriving underground scene performing and hosting a weekly gig at Cape Town's legendary hip-hop club, "The Lounge". Projects during this time included the likes of "Lyrical Revolution" and "Dynamode" which were well recieved at clubs and more notably at South Africa's version of Woodstock. Hip-Hop quickly opened his eyes to eclectic styles of electronic music which instantly extended his musical palate and would shape things to come.

In 2006 Rebel Clef teamed up with the amazing talent of Ross Finck aka "Dank" and merged their influences and styles producing a self titled album called "The Dank Mr Wilson" which was an instant underground hit featuring on CD's for SL Magazine and being performed live at festivals such as SoundSquad in 2007, the two also held DJ resedancies at the scene pushing club, "Fiction", playing electronica, Hip-Hop, and what can be described as "early glitch". Shortly after this the two teamed up with Richard Marshall to form a production studio called "Noisefloor" producing material for radio, TV, etc.

2008 ushered in the age of UK bass music and Rebel Clef found himself emersed in a new world of sounds and textures quickly getting into Deep Dubstep, Grime and Garage, it was not long before these influences started to show up in his productions and music selection... a somewhat romantic tale of love at first sound.

In December 2010 Rebel Clef founded the now famous bi-weekly event, "Cold Turkey" ( http://www.facebook.com/coldturkeySA ) with two friends and began catering to the rising demand for quality bass driven music. The event was a massive success and has gone from strength to strength the biggest and most diverse crowds southern africa has ever seen, showcasing the very finest DJ's from our shores and abroad.

To date Rebel Clef has played with all of South Africa's top electronic acts such as Niskerone, SFR, Erefaan Pearce, Felix Leband, Sibot, Zaki Ibrahim, B-Team, Dank, Fletcher, Kid Fonque and Das Kapital to name a (very) few, as well as international heavy weights such as Kode9, Mala, Scratcha DVA, LV, Diplo, Ruckspin, Ghislain Poirier and DMZ's Coki.

A sound is worth a thousand pictures.
