The workshop presents the creative and technical processes underlying the development of audiovisual content by the Volcanism collective, an artistic project that explores the concept of evolution in its multiple forms: natural evolution, cultural transformation, and the mutation of contemporary artistic languages, including artistic forms associated with both art music and popular music.
Through the analysis of video materials, working methodologies, and performance practices, the workshop will illustrate the different stages involved in audiovisual production: from video shooting and the acquisition of sound materials to post-production and real-time processing during live performances. Particular attention will be devoted to the use of photographic and video equipment, editing software, and audiovisual manipulation tools employed in the creation of dynamic and immersive visual environments.
The workshop will also offer a reflection on the relationship between image, sound, and transformation across different forms of audiovisual practice, showing how digital technologies can become expressive tools capable of representing evolutionary processes, temporal stratifications, and perceptual metamorphoses.
The workshop is aimed at artists, videomakers, musicians, students, and multimedia arts enthusiasts interested in exploring contemporary audiovisual composition practices and the creative possibilities offered by the interaction between visual languages, sound, and live performance.
During the lessons, some AI-based technologies for audio-visual generation may also be explored and analyzed.
