He originally started the label in 2003 with Jon Schwark in San Francisco; wanting to publish his own work and realizing there was no real outlet for VJ and AV contents at that time. Publishing his work + the work of other artists it developed into a international library of audiovisual works.

Nearly 10 years on lightrhythm has published a vast collection of works and this has un-doubtedly influenced Sheppee as an artist and producer, having remixed titles on nearly every release and directing artists works into finished products. Inspired by the interactions with some of the most interesting visual acts internationally Sheppee began touring a cinema performance in 2006 and continues to adapt and modernize his AV set with contemporary issues and concerns of the moment, whilst using his live set to entertain and humour audin- eces at the same time.

Beyond his released works and efforts through the label and performances, Ben Sheppee is also a writer, curator and has taken part in a majority of the most significant publications on VJ and AV culture to date (VJ: Audiovisual Art and Performance, The VJ Book amongst other titles) Sheppee curates screening programs and exhibitions in Japan and Russia, and recently developed AV:in - and audiovisual course online, directing and producing the website in partnership with Cyberbrothers.tv. His event Visualux, which appears infrequently in Tokyo highlights some of the emerging talents in Japan and invites guest AV acts from around the world to perform in the Asain metropolis. He has also presented a TV show in Japan on the subject of visuals, which aired 12 episodes to national television.

Besides the more creative and artistic projects, Sheppee finances his projects and pastimes as a creative director for tour visuals and stage design for a number of commercial clients, Recently producing contents for iTunes, Leftfield and Live television Shows.
